Difference between stickers and labels

You may have heard about stickers and labels, but do you know the difference between both? In this article, we will compare both these packaging products.

What is the difference?

Labels are three times thinner than stickers. Stickers usually come with a matte finish, compared to the glossy finish of labels. Labels come rolled on a liner, while stickers are cut individually. This fundamental knowledge about both these products will help you understand what products you need for your packaging applications.

What are stickers?

Stickers are easy to distribute because they are individually cut. They are usually printed on premium thick vinyl. If you want to promote your brand, stickers can play a key role in this regard. The thicker vinyl makes your business logo or other design elements more detailed and impressive. Some stickers come with a slightly matte finish and a custom laminate. That makes these stickers weather resistant.

You can use stickers as tradeshow giveaways, packaging inserts, and merchandise. The benefit of using stickers this way is that it makes your customers think of your brand when they need a product you sell. The good thing is that you can create stickers yourself by using several tools available online.

What are labels?

Labels are made using a thinner material known as Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene, also called BOPP. This material is created using a process in which two plastic films are stretched out in opposite directions and then bonded together. This material safe to use on the packaging of food products, including teas, coffee, and honey.

The reason BOPP is for creating labels is that it offers an excellent surface for label printing. It allows for the ideal application of pigment-based inks. Once the contents are printed on the label, a dry finish puts your brand in the spotlight. BOPP, like all other plastics, is resistant to oils, moisture, and chemicals.

Another reason BOPP is a great addition to your packages is that it is very durable. You can print your business logo or any other design on this material and put it on an otherwise plain box. You can also apply this material to other products, including glass, mailers, and plastic.

You can use labels for different purposes or packaging applications. Shampoo bottles and food containers provide an ideal surface for BOPP labels. Since these labels are resistant to liquids and oils, they do not lose their hold or deteriorate when moisture in food products or beverages comes in contact. Some of the common labels are product labels, care labels, and mailing or shipping labels. Each of these labels serves a specific purpose, so be sure to choose the correct one.

If you want to know what labels may work well with your products, you can discuss your requirements with a packaging vendor or consultant. You can also discuss design options to get help when it comes to using labels or stickers for branding advantages.

Tips For Shipping Perishable Products

The popularity of meal delivery services and online grocery shopping is growing with every passing day. Most of the time, people order perishable products, which usually include refrigerated goods and frozen items. Such items need to be stored at a particular temperature to keep them from losing freshness or rotting. The process to ship perishable products can be daunting. Not to mention the quality of your products reflects your brand. That is why maintaining the product quality at its best will help you keep your customers happy and ensure repeat sales.

In this article, e will discuss some tips and tricks to ship perishable products safely.

Shipping non-refrigerated perishable products

Non-refrigerated perishable products usually have a shorter shelf life. Such products generally include pastries and bread. While you do not need to refrigerate these foods, you will have to consider external factors such as weather and contamination. That is why the packaging method for these products should be the same that that for refrigerated perishable foods.

Shipping refrigerated perishable foods

Refrigerated perishable products usually include seafood, dairy products, meat, and other fresh foods. Shipping such products can be a bit tricky as it may change the quality, taste, texture, and appearance of those items. First and foremost, you have to make sure to maintain the temperature around those products to keep them fresh throughout the transit. Maintaining temperature inside the box for 30 hours is the bare minimum.

The first step of this process is to prepare your food. Depending on the type of food you ship, you will have to precool or freeze it to help it remain fresh during shipping. You will also have to protect these products from potential harm, such as water leakage due to thawed ice or damage from other items in the box.

Next, be sure to choose the best quality and appropriate insulated packaging material. These materials help maintain the temperature inside a box for longer durations. If you are shipping refrigerated items, you may need to use ice packs around your products. You can choose from different sizes of these insulating materials, depending on your requirements.

If there are items in your box that can leak during melting, make sure to line them with plastic or other materials to prevent your package from becoming soggy. Moreover, use ice packs and other insulating materials instead of packing paper to fill voids.

Shipping frozen perishables

These products usually include frozen meat, seafood, frozen fruits, desserts, and ice cream. The packaging materials required for these products are usually the same as those for refrigerated goods. However, you will have to use dry ice instead of cold packs if you are shipping frozen foods. Using dry ice makes shipping and storage and shipping challenges, so you have to make sure to adhere to rules and regulations.

Choosing the right shipping company

It is crucial to choose the right packaging company to ensure safe and secure product delivery. Your shipping company should be able to deliver your products fast and avoid any damage during the process.

How Small can Small Corrugated Boxes Go?

Have you ever wanted to ship something but regular boxes just won’t cut it. While the phrase “go big or go home” may work for some stuff, for packaging, that’s not the case.

It can look unprofessional, and it can sometimes cause the item to just jostle around, and then break.

If you’re a brand that sells products that are small, you don’t want to waste the money, time, effort, or space with too big of a box, but instead get a tiny box, which we’ll go over here.

What’s best in a small box?

The answer is a lot.

Those normal-sized boxes don’t cut it for a lot of things

Below is a list of what a small box is good for:

  • Small books

  • Frames

  • Clothing

  • Items for the house

  • jewelry

  • Candles

  • Homemade soaps

  • Trinkets

  • Mugs for coffee

  • Toys and gifts

  • Hygiene and bath products

  • Perfumes

  • Vases

  • Candy

  • Anything that’s small!

So you have a lot of great uses for this, and small boxes are definitely worth looking at for your brand.

The benefits

The cool thing about this is that it has a lot of benefits that are right there waiting for you.

First, you have the produce of the brand. You’re giving the customer something that’s small enough that communicates to customers that hey, you really do care about the brand itself and do believe in this product. You are giving them something that you took time to perfectly order, and that’s something that customers do internalize, and they see that you’re prideful of your brand. They’re going to be happy with this too if you do decide to do this.

It's also eco-friendly, since the right box does show that you care about the brand and the environment, not just making money. Packaging that’s too big looks super wasteful, and if you’re looking to be a more prideful eco-friendly brand, this is one of the best ways to do this, and you won’t need to use as much filler for this too.

It also boosts the brand image too, since it shows that you care enough to follow a path, make sure that you have branding that’s down to the box itself, and also helps with ordering and design, and that’s something that isn’t lost to the customers that are coming back, and any prospective customers that are there too.

It also doesn’t mean that you went cheap either. Small boxes are definitely good if you want something that’s higher in quality, and also is on the same level as those larger items that are there. You can get the right fit for a box without dealing with bad packaging, packaging that doesn’t reflect the brand’s standards as well as your own packaging may for this, so definitely look into this for your branding needs.

Corrugated boxes do the job, and that’s something that will help show off your product that doesn’t require you to use a bunch of space too, and small boxes are definitely easy for you to work with, are versatile, offer creativity, and are simple and very fun to work with, which is why more and more ecommerce brands are looking at these for their smaller items.

The box size does matter, since you’re going to show off your brand, but it also shows that you’re saving time, money, and you don’t have to pay as much for an item, making you look even better as well down the line.

Metal vs. Plastic Strapping

Strapping, also known in many cases as banding, refers to these narrow, long strips that are used to reinforce, secure, and also bundle the equipment and materials that you have. Commonly used in this packaging and shipping world with the intention to keep everything stabilized and organized, they’re made either from metal or even plastic, depending upon the needs of the application of the strapping.

We do provide strapping that’s high in quality, low in costs, and are good for shipping and packaging.  While we have started with the basics, we do know what the customers want and have since grown into a major provider of this equipment and shipping.

Through our experience, our warehouses offer convenience and a variety to choose from, we do offer strapping and also shipping of packaging and items to various customers. All of this does come with a price that’s competitive.

Our options include polyester, steel, and even polypropylene.  Strapping can also be done with machines, and various accessories such as buckles and seals are further available.

Metal and Steel Strapping

Today you can get strapping made from different materials, all of which offer different requirements along with restrictions.

Originally, strapping was made directly from steel. Steel is one of the oldest, and most common types of strapping material. With the highest amount of tensile strength out there and amazing heat resistance depending upon your composition, it’s ideal for shipping and packaging when you need the strength and the stretch.  This is vital for objects that are sharp and hot.

The biggest advantages include:

  • Lowered elongation

  • Better tensile strength

  • Better UV and heat resistance durability

These are used in construction, industrial packaging, and in steel coils.

Plastic Strapping of polyester and polypropylene

From the introduction, plastic strapping, otherwise known as poly strapping, is a major choice for packaging and shipping.

Because it’s made from plastic rather than steel, it’s not as expensive and far more flexible. It also reduces injury risk since the edges aren’t as sharp.

The biggest advantages to this are:

  • Flexibility

  • A better cost

  • Less injury risk

You typically see strapping when packaging produce, lumber, paper products and materials, and also using it for stretch wrapping pallets

Plastic strapping is also made from different plastics. Depending on the shipping applications and packaging, there might be different plastics for the use. However, you usually use polypropylene and polyester types of strapping.

Polyester

Polyester is one of the best, and while we’ve mentioned how good it is we’ll go into deeper detail here.

Polyester is one of the best plastic strapping options, and it’s used as an alternative to steel because of the applications. Due to the better retaining tension and the recovery of elongation, it’s decadent and better for packaging and shipping that involves loads that could move around a lot.

The biggest advantages include:

  • A high break strength

  • A high tension retention

  • A high recovery of elongation

The typical uses are construction loads, loads that’ll contract, expand, or even settle during storage and transit.  It also works well for loads that do move in response to the strapping changes and the environmental shifts.

You can also use polypropylene, as this is far more economical, and it’s used for light and medium duty applications of shipping and packaging. It’s got the longest elongation of all the strapping, so it’s best for loads that are fragile, and also for those that are transported over a distance that’s short. However the retained and initial tension are very low and the elongation recovery is pretty bad.

Just how important is Custom Packaging

Custom packaging is something that you should never discredit the importance of. While it might seem super expensive, a box that is personalized with different marketing is super important to invest in, especially in the realm of ecommerce or retail. The package and items will convince brands to get their delivery to different channels, including social media.

The packaging design is what distinguishes your brand from different resellers. This is why a lot of times people will buy the same products that resellers do, directly off amazon.  That’s why brands need to learn how to connect with these industries, and it’s so much more important than you’d think.

The impact of Customer Packaging

The custom packaging that you have does actually determine how people will move forward with your brand. Here’s the truth of it. Almost half of customers will share packaging that’s special on their social media handles. Boxes that are plain and sloppy won’t look good for sales, and a lot of consumers are more likely to invest in brands that take the time to create content that’s custom, rather than those who don’t.

There is also another poll that looks at the premium packaging. This encourages about 84% of customers to get a product.  Only about 16% of those people don’t think that this matters.  So it’s important to make sure that you also show the right custom packaging that people want. Most brand owners do believe that the packaging does influence the value of the brand that’s there.

Some brands also see a much larger increase when they use custom and premium packaging.  Most packages and products that are bought are chic too, and that's a huge selling point. You need to make sure that you have this in place, because so many people look for it these days, and without it, you’re just shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to branding.

Being Custom and Sustainable

Another thing, almost on par with being a custom package, is the aspects of sustainability. Sustainability is in, and this is something that directly affects the sales of customers. It was found that over half of the customers did cite recyclability and sustainability as their main packaging trend, and it also showed that over half of the respondents and the companies there did have sustainable efforts for their projects.

There was also another survey that looked at how eco-friendly the minds of those people were, and many even indicated that it’s vital to packaging. While over half of them did include the use of packaging that was eco-friendly as a main consideration for the products that were there.

It was also found that over 60% of the shoppers there do reuse the packaging that they purchase from other people too. So with this said, it’s very clear that, even though there is a lot that’s happening, you need a product packaging that’s sustainable, and one that’s custom made for your own personalized packaging efforts.

How to make this

Well, it’s important to look at the right types of packaging that you want to have with this. For instance, if you’re looking to create a box that’s a specific size, you sure can. There is also the fact that you can get stuff with materials that are suitable, in order to create the ideal box for products. This is something you should start doing right away.

Custom packaging is the way to go, and the way to the future of packaging that you’ll want to have done, and the benefits of this too.
